Earlier this year on Thursday 13th May, Ernie Hasler a trustee represented Emmaus Glasgow at the twentieth birthday of Emmaus in the UK.
He said –
“After getting a haircut and dressing up in my funeral suit, I managed to pass myself off quite well in the presence of the great and the good at the House of Lords”.
“Luckily there were many people who I knew from past Emmaus annual assemblies and several companions from other Emmaus communities”.
“Despite the fact that her constituency boundary changes means that she no longer represents Ellesmere Street, Ann McKechin MP, took the trouble to come from the Commons to the Lords to talk to me and others.
That’s her between Terry Waite and me in the photograph taken with a wide angle lense”.
“The Rt. Hon Lord Foulkes of Cumnock P.C., B.Sc., J.P substituted for Baroness Armstrong of Hilltop the Trustee with Emmaus UK who had a family bereavement”.
I had a good chat with him about Emmaus Glasgow –
“Although it is important to make the effort to become known nationally, the bottom line is that we will only survive by our own efforts, hard work and serving our customers better than anyone else”.
“So we need to raise the bar once again as we go into twenty twelve”.
“I think we can do it”.
